This decision comes as the company deals with the fallout from a series of news reports and complaints about how it handles the safety of users.
The Verge reports that FACEBOOK is planning to rebrand the company with a new name within a week as it seeks to stress different aspects of its business. This announcement may be made on the 28th October, 2021 at the Facebook Connect Conference or even sooner.
The rebrand is said to help Facebook separate its social networking platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) from its metaverse work amid the heavy scrutiny that the businesses are under.
The metaverse is “going to be a big focus, and I think that this is just going to be a big part of the next chapter for the way that the internet evolves after the mobile internet,” Zuckerberg. “And I think it’s going to be the next big chapter for our company too, really doubling down in this area.”
The new name has been decided upon but under a closely-guarded secret with not even the senior leadership of the company in the known.
