A demolishing exercise is set to take place on 15th September 2021 by the Ga West Municipality. This exercise is to pull down illegal structures close to Nsakina river.
The Ga West municipality said it has arrested seven persons suspected to be putting up illegal structures at Nsakina Dromonaa.
Some of the areas targeted for this exercise are Olebu, Manhia, Odumase, Oduman, Oshuiman and Afuaman. This is following legal backing to demolish structures on waterways in 2018 by National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
The Municipal Executive of Ga West Mr. Clement Wilkinson said “I have warned all persons who have put up structures close to the Nsakina River to pull them down before the demolishing exercise on Wednesday.
These are some of the measures by the Greater Accra Regional Ministry to sanitise the capital city during these rainy season.
Currently the owner of a building sited on the waterway is representing the arrested workers in court.
