US Visa Fees to Increase Globally from May 30th

The US Department of State has announced that visa fees for various visa classifications will be increased globally starting from May 30th. The fee increment ranges from $160 to $185 for B1/B2 visas, F visas for international students, J exchange visitor visas and other visa classes not requiring a petition.

However, those who apply before May 30th and schedule an interview within 365 days of payment will not be affected by the change. Visa fee payments made on or after October 1, 2022, will remain valid for 365 days from the date of receipt of payment.

Petition-based nonimmigrants within H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories will pay $205 instead of the previous fee of $190.

The fee increase is meant to make it easier to fund the Department of State’s consular operations. Nonimmigrant visa costs are set by the Department of State depending on the actual cost of delivering these services.
